Aggressive fire attack at Laverton North blaze

Firefighters are currently battling a large fire at a business in Fitzgerald Road, Laverton North.

Crews were called out just before 2pm this afternoon following reports of a fire at one of the recycling piles.

The fire involves a pile of rubber and plastics approximately 40 metres by 30 metres.

About 50 MFB and CFA firefighters are making an aggressive attack on the pile.

As of 2.50pm the fire is not yet under control.

An advice message has been issued to the community warning the public that smoke will be visible in the area and urging people to keep the roads clear for emergency services.

Fire agencies are receiving support on scene from Victoria Police, Ambulance Victoria, SES, water authorities and site management.
