17 Mar 2019
MFB crews have made quick work of a fire which ripped through an Altona North garage last night.

Firefighters were called to the Hansen Street address just beofre 7.30pm following numerous TripleZero (000) calls.

Crews arrived within 5 minutes to find the garage heavily involved in flames and an accumulation of flammable items inside including two cars and welding equipment.

Firefighters managed to prevent the blaze from spreading to a neighbouring garage and get it under control within 30 minutes.

It was later determined that a mechanical failure in a laser cutter was the cause of the incident.
