Altona North house fire

The fire originated in the lounge room before spreading throughout the entire premises.

TIME: 2259 hrs CALL No.: 5919

Involved a single storey brick house of 14 squares. Both the premises and contents have been severely damaged by fire. The elderly male occupant had removed himself from the burning building prior to the arrival of the MFB resources after being alerted to the fire by his three barking pet dogs.

He has been transported to hospital suffering from smoke inhalation. Unfortunately the three pets perished in the blaze.

Under control in 12 minutes. Breathing apparatus in operation. Fire duty in place. MFB Fire Investigation Unit will attend during daylight hours to establish a cause.
