Apartment fire in Caulfield North

Firefighters have battled a blaze in a Caulfield North unit this morning.

Crews were called to the Orrong Crescent home at 7.32am.

The apartment, located on the first floor, is one of ten in the complex.

Neighbours spotted smoke and flames coming from a window of the apartment and called Triple Zero.

Firefighters evacuated residents on either side of the apartment and conducted a search of the affected unit to ensure no one was inside.

The fire was deemed under control at 7.49am.

The cause the yet to be identified.
