Ascot Vale unit fire

Fire involved a 10 square unit on the third floor of a block of units.

The fire has originated in the one bed roomed unit and then spread up into a common roof space and has also severely damaged the roof space of an adjoining unit. Unit and contents including the roof space of two units severely damaged by fire. Six units below the fire floor have suffered some water damage.

The male occupant, (mid forties) of the premises was treated by Ambulance Victoria for smoke inhalation. Smoke alarms were fitted to the premises alerting the occupant to the fire. Under control in 21 minutes. Breathing apparatus in operation. Fire duty in place. The fire is believed to have been started by a cigarette.
