06 Jun 2019
The occupant of an Avondale Heights home had an early morning wake up call after finding his roof on fire.

Firefighters were called to the Ridge Drive home just after midnight and ensured all occupants had safely evacuated before attacking the seat of the blaze in the garage.

The fire was initially threatening the house next door and police evacuated the home as a precaution.

Firefighters were able to get the incident under control in 23 minutes.

They used a thermal imaging camera to detect and extinguish hot spots.

The cause of the incident will be investigated.
