16 Oct 2017
Firefighters have quickly brought under control a blaze at a block of flats in Travancore this afternoon.

Firefighters were called to the block of flats on Mt Alexander Road shortly after 3pm.

Additional appliances were sent to the scene because of the number of triple-zero calls received.

Crews were able to make quick access and contained the spread of fire to the balcony of a level three unit.

The fire was deemed under control in 30 minutes.

Units on two levels of the building were evacuated as a precaution.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
