21 Mar 2019
MFB firefighters are currently in Balwyn following a restaurant fire.

Crews were called to the premises in Whitehorse Road just before 2pm after being alerted to the blaze by multiple Triple Zero (000) callers.

Initial callers were concerned the fire was spreading to a neighbouring building.

Firefighters arrived on scene in three minutes and began battling the blaze.

They managed to contain it to the roof area and got it under control within 20 minutes.

Fortunately, all occupants of the building had evacuated prior to MFB's arrival.

Ambulance Victoria paramedics treated one person on scene.

MFB Fire Investigators will investigate the cause of the incident.
