Bentleigh East home destroyed by fire

Fire investigators will attend the scene of a house fire in Bentleigh East this morning.

A brick and tile unit on Hodgson Avenue, measuring 10 by 20 metres, was destroyed by fire overnight.

The first arriving crews stopped the fire spreading to other nearby properties that were under threat.

The damage bill is expected to exceed $70,000.

Fire Investigation will be on scene at first light to determine the cause of the blaze.

The fire took 40 minutes to bring under control.

Breathing apparatus was in use.
