Black smoke billows from Coburg North house fire

MFB firefighters responded to a call for a house fire in Coburg North this afternoon.

Crews were called to the home in Convent Court just before 4pm.

On arrival they found significant amounts of black smoke issuing from the fire, which was burning in the rear section of the house.

Damage was contained to a bathroom in the rear of the house and is estimated at approximately $50,000.

A female occupant has been treated by Ambulance Victoria for signs of smoke inhalation.

After approximately 30 minutes the fire was deemed under control. The cause of the fire will be investigated.
