Box Hill North Fire

18 Jun 2010
A Department of Human Services house was almost completely destroyed by a fire earlier this evening.

The blaze in the single storey, three bedroom, brick veneer home took thirty minutes to bring under control after it started about 7 p.m. The damage bill has been estimated at three hundred and fifty thousand dollars and fortunately, no one was home at the time. The fire was already through the roof when MFB firefighters arrived on scene and they called for extra resources to control the blaze. A watching duty will continue throughout the night and MFB specialist investigators will sift through the debris at first light to determine the cause.
