Brighton home seriously damaged by fire

More than half a million dollars damage has been caused by a house fire in Brighton overnight

MFB crews received calls for smoke and flames issuing from the roof of a two storey brick residence in Black Street at 7.38pm
First arriving appliances requested additional resources to battle the fire which had engulfed the first floor. 
The blaze was deemed under control in one hour. 
The use of aerial equipment was hindered by overhead electrical wires and larges trees lining the street.
The building occupants were not home at the time, damage to the first floor and roof area is extensive. MFB Fire Investigators will attend in the morning to determine a cause, damage is estimated to be in excess of $500,000.
MFB crews will be on scene throughout the night and into the morning.
Police and Ambulance Victoria were in attendance.
