Bungalow fire in Coburg

Crews responded to a bungalow fire on Cash St at 4:54am this morning.

Firefighters were on scene within six minutes and managed to contain the fire to the bungalow at the rear of the property.

The bungalow's occupant had woken to find the base of their bed alight, believed to be caused by a heater placed too close to the bed.

There were no working smoke alarms.

The blaze was brought under control in nine minutes.
