Cafe/house fire in Thornbury.

back to list
02 Jul 2012
A couple in their thirties were taken to hospital for observation, a male with facial burns and a female with smoke inhalation.

The fire in the single storey brick veneer dwelling took about thirty six minutes to bring under control after MFB firefighters were hampered by a large amount of bric-a-brac.

It appears the owners were operating a café style business in the front of the building and living at the rear where the fire started.

A cause has not been established but will be investigated later. The damage bill is expected to top one hundred thousand dollars.
