11 Aug 2015
A blanket left too close to a heater has caused a house fire in Campbellfield overnight.

Firefighters were called to the Bailey Court home just after 1.30am.

The fire started in the bedroom and the occupant had evacuated safely.

On route the initial crews upgraded the response to include extra firefighting appliances, due to the volume of smoke visible.

On arrival the single storey brick veneer house was substantially involved in fire, however was quickly brought under control in 20 minutes.

Crews remained on scene for some time to totally extinguish the fire.

The cause has been determined to be a blanket being left too close to a heater.  The fire has been contained to the front two rooms and some of the roof space.
