Car yard fire to be investigated

A large fire in a motor wreckers yard in Falkner has been deemed suspicious.

The incident occured on September 14 at about 1.06am.

Several cars were involved and caused a large plume of smoke in the area.

Due to the smoke, firefighters wore breathing apparatus.

Access to the seat of the fire was difficult and took one hour to bring under control.

Camp Road was closed during the fire fighting operations but is not expected to disrupt morning traffic.  The full extent of damage including value will be evaluated in the morning.

The cause has been deemed to be suspicious and police are investigating.

There were no reports of any injuries.

Almost 50 firefighters attended with 14 appliances on scene.
