08 Jul 2017
Two cars were destroyed in a garage and fire in Keilor today.

Crews were called to the Karina Court home just after 2pm.

Firefighters were on scene within minutes and found a double garage, a shed and the front of the single storey home well alight.

The fire had spread through the roof space of the garage and into the front living area of the house.

Commander Roger Chitty has praised the MFB crews for immediately attacking the fire and suppressing the spread which threatened the remainder of the home. The houses on each side were also protected from the fire.

While there were concerns for persons reportedly still inside, the elderly couple had safely evacuated and soon accounted for.  Fortunately no injuries occurred.

The cause is unknown and MFB Fire Investigators are currently on scene.

Crews will remain on scene into the evening to continue to extinguish and conduct fire duties.
