Caulfield unit block damaged in fire

Four units in a block of 20 flats were damaged by fire early this morning, while other units were damaged by smoke and water.

At 7.42am MFB firefighters arrived on scene at the Muntz Street home in Caulfield North to find two units fully involved in fire.  It took 28 firefighters approximately 30 minutes to bring the fire under control.  Two aerial appliances were used to attack the fire from above the building.

There were approximately 30 people evacuated and there were no reports of any injuries or anyone in immediate danger. Damage is estimated to be in excess of $600.000.  The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the MFB Fire Investigation Unit.
