Cause of Lalor house fire unknown

Two occupants have self-evacuated their bedroom this morning after waking up to a fire in the room.

MFB Firefighters arrived at the Munro Street home about 7.20am to find the front bedroom fully involved and into the roof and floor space.

Arriving on scene within five minutes of receiving the call enabled them to contain the spread to the front portion of the brick veneer, single storey home.

One of the occupants, a middle aged male, suffered smoke inhalation and was treated on scene by MFB firefighters until the arrival paramedics.

A neighbouring home was also threatened by the fire and assertive firefighting tactics ensured success protection.

The fire took 20 minutes to bring under control.

The cause of the fire is unknown. Specialist MFB Fire Investigators are currently on scene.
