Commuters were impacted this morning after a fire in Strathmore.

The cause of a sleeper fire along the train tracks in Strathmore early this morning is under investigation.

MFB crews were called to the train tracks near Pascoe Vale Road at about 7.40am.

On arrival crews found five sleepers damaged by fire and stopped trains to allow them to investigate further.

It’s not believed the fires were deliberately lit. Trains resumed after about 30 minutes.
