Chadstone Chinese restaurant blaze impacts Warrigal Road traffic

Firefighters are on scene at a restaurant fire in Chadstone.

Crews were called to the Double Stars Chinese Restaurant on Warrigal Road about 4.30pm.

Witnesses reported seeing flames shooting from the roof of the building.

Firefighters worked quickly to contain the blaze to the rear of the premises and will conduct a thorough search to ensure the fire has not spread. The fire has not spread to adjoining properties. 

It is unclear how the fire started, however a cause will be investigated.

Patrons were evacuated and no one was injured in the fire.

Traffic on Warrigal Road will be affected for some time, so motorists are advised to avoid the area.
