CityLink car fire under control quickly

MFB firefighters have made quick work of a fire which broke out in the Burnley Tunnel this afternoon.

Crews were called to the incident just before 4pm and arrived to find a car on fire inside the tunnel approximately 150 metres from the Burnley Street exit.

Firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze in about 20 minutes and worked with CityLink staff to reopen the road by 4.20pm.

Luckily, no one was injured in the incident.
