Coolaroo factory fire update

back to list
19 Jul 2017
Emergency services have entered day seven of firefighting activities at the Coolaroo factory fire.

There are currently more than 30 MFB firefighters on scene.

Crews are using earth moving machinery to pull apart the smouldering rubbish piles, treating them with water and foam.

The Remote Piloted Aircraft System (RPAS) team will be deployed to the site today and will use thermal imaging technology to map remaining hotspots.

Firefighters are expected to continue operations at the site for several days to ensure the fire is fully extinguished before handing the site back to its owners.

MFB will continue to work with SKM, the EPA and Hume City Council regarding the ongoing management of the site.

The relief centre at Broadmeadows Aquatic and Leisure Centre was closed last night, however, any concerned residents can contact Hume City Council on 9205 2200.

Free health checks are also available at the Broadmeadows Super Clinic.
