Couple flee Ringwood house fire thanks to working smoke alarm

A working smoke alarm alerted a couple to a fire in the roof space of their home this morning.

Fire crews were called to the Badger Court home in Ringwood about 2.37am.

The couple was able to evacuate safely and alert the fire brigade.

The first crews arrived to find the roof space well alight.

The fire took just under 30 minutes to bring under control.  The damage is estimated to be approximately $100,000.

The cause of the fire will be investigated today.  There were no reports of injuries.
