Crane damaged by heavy winds in Richmond

Dozens of Richmond residents were evacuated overnight after a crane was damaged by heavy winds.

MFB firefighters were called to the site in Lennox Street just after 11pm at the request of the State Emergency Service after a crane arms was blown backwards and in danger of collapse.

The crane was approxinately 30-40 metres high.

Up to 80 people living on the south west side of the crane were evacuated to Richmond Town Hall as a safety precaution.
