Crews attend battery fire in Collins Street, Melbourne

The fire was declared under control just after 2pm and its cause will be investigated.

Just after 1pm today the automatic fire alarm protecting the building at 333 Collins Street operated resulting in the response of MFB firefighters. 

The alarm was caused by a fire in a bank of batteries supplying the Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS) to the complex.

MFB Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus assisted the evacuation of staff from levels one and two of the building, and Victoria Police assisted with the evacuation of staff once they were clear of the building.

The fire was declared under control just after 2pm and its cause will be investigated.
