08 May 2013
MFB attended a fire in a cafe last night in Heidelberg.

Crews arrived on scene at Cafe Burgundy just after 7pm.

Due to a fast response and aggressive attack, the fire was contained to the kitchen area at the rear and a portion of the roof.

The fire was declared under control within 30 minutes.

It is believed there was no one in the premises at the time and there are no reports of injuries.

The presence of asbestos was suspected and safety precautions were taken.  The damage is estimated to be in excess of $50,000.  The cause is still under investigation.

Nine appliances were on scene, with about 21 firefighters.
