Crews battle two-storey Ashburton house fire

MFB crews were called to the house fire in Chamberlain St, Ashburton at 8:25am this morning

The rear of the two storey house was fully involved when firefighters arrived on scene.

Fortunately there were no occupants at the house at the time of the fire.

Crews wearing Breathing Apparatus worked quickly to bring the fire under control in 40 minutes and were able to contain the blaze to the ground floor.

The cause of the fire has yet to be determined.
