MFB firefighters were called to Hawthorn just before 3pm following reports of an explosion in a café kitchen.

MFB firefighters were called to Hawthorn just before 3pm following reports of an explosion in a café kitchen.

Crews arrived to the Glenferrie Road address in less than six minutes, and called the fire under control by 3:10pm.

One person was treated at the scene by Ambulance Victoria Paramedics.

 Thankfully, other occupants who were inside the café at the time of the fire managed to evacuate safely.

MFB’s specialist Fire Investigation Unit has been called to the scene to analyse how the fire began.
