MFB and CFA firefighters were called to the property in Warrandyte Rd, Ringwood at 8:40am after several neighbours and passers-by rang 000 reporting a house on fire, one advising they heard a loud bang then saw smoke.

On arrival, crews found the two occupants had evacuated and were suffering shock. They were assessed by Ambulance Victoria on scene.

Firefighters implemented aggressive firefighting tactics to attack the blaze and managed to contain the fire to the rear of the house.

A ventilation fan at the property also helped to clear the smoke from the building.

The fire was declared under control in just 23 minutes.

At this stage the cause remains unknown and fire investigators will attend to investigate.
