Crews force entry to combat fire in Mulgrave factory

A street sweeper was destroyed in a factory fire in Mulgrave overnight.

MFB crews were called to a fire in a 50m x 30m factory in a Geddes Street industrial estate at 8.40pm.

The fire involved a street sweeper inside the building which was extensively damaged.

The property was unoccupied at the time and forced entry had to be made.

Firefighters extinguished the blaze before substantial damage to the structure could occur.

Damage is estimated to be in excess of $150,000.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.  No other properties were threatened. There were no reports of any injuries.

Seven appliances with 22 firefighters attended the fire.
