MFB firefighters last night joined with Victoria Police in a coordinated effort to ensure community road safety.

In an unexpected turn of events, the firefighters took on the role of road wardens when returning from a previous call in Caroline Springs.

The firefighters noticed a car travelling without its headlights on in the wrong direction on the Western highway in Burnside at approximately 10pm.

After notifying Victoria Police, the fire truck intercepted the car until the police arrived on the scene.
