Dog dies in Fitzroy North house fire

A dog has died in a Fitzroy North house fire overnightl

Crews were called to the single fronted Victorian terrace house on Egremont Street at 3.42am.

On arrival they found the front room well alight and feared for the welfare of the occupant.

Crews in breathing apparatus knocked the fire down quickly and conducted a search of the premise. It appears that no one was home, however a deceased dog was found.

The fire has now been extinguished and crews are investigating the scene to determine a cause.
