19 Feb 2019
It was a busy morning for firefighters following three separate fires in Docklands.

Firefighters were called to an apartment building in Waterside Drive just before 5am following a fire in a garbage chute.

A number of residents were evacuated from the building as a safety precaution while firefighters extinguished the fire and made sure all floors were safe.

While responding to this incident, firefighters spotted another fire nearby in North Wharf Road and called it in.

With the help of several callers, crews were able to zero in on the location of the incident and arrived at the industrial premises about 5.30am to find a two storey building on fire.

Crews entered the building to attack the blaze internally. The fire appeared to be coming from the second floor.

They managed to get the fire under control within 30 minutes. Victoria Police is investigating the incident.

A short time later, at 6.11am, firefighters were again called to Docklands after a fire broke out in a cafe kitchen on Collins Street.

Firefighters got the incident under control in just over ten minutes.
