08 Feb 2016
Firefighters worked quickly to contain a factory fire in Clayton South this morning.

MFB and CFA crews were called to the Eileen Road fire at 4.13am.

Witnesses reported seeing flames shooting from the building and a large amount of smoke.

Firefighters gained access to the factory via the roller doors and used aerial appliances to put water on the blaze from above.

The fire was deemed under control just before 5am and crews will remain on scene to ensure the blaze is entirely extinguished.

A community warning has been issued to advise nearby residents and motorists of the smoke, however there was no threat posed to the community.

The cause of the blaze has not yet been identified and the damage is yet to be assessed.

Seven fire trucks and about 25 firefighters attended the incident.

UPDATE 9.30AM: Circumstances surrounding this fire have been deemed suspicious and will be investigated by Victoria Police.
