Elderly man evacuated from Carlton blaze

MFB have extinguished a blaze which broke out at a Carlton apartment block this afternoon.

MFB have extinguished a blaze which broke out at a Carlton apartment block this afternoon.

Crews were called to the scene, in Nicholson Street, shortly after 2.30pm, following calls from distressed neighbours.

They arrived to find the fourth storey apartment in flames.

Firefighters swiftly evacuated an elderly man from the apartment.

He was treated at the scene by Ambulance Victoria paramedics for what appeared to be smoke inhalation.

Firefighters worked quickly to contain the fire to the apartment’s front room and balcony.

MFB Fire Investigators will investigate the cause of the blaze.
