Elderly man rescued from Oakleigh fire

MFB firefighters rescued a man in his seventies from a bungalow fire in Oakleigh over the weekend.

MFB crews attended the bungalow fire about 11.08am on Sunday 13 September at the rear of a premise in Leroux Street, Oakleigh.

Concerns were held for the elderly resident reportedly living in the single storey brick dwelling.

On arrival firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the fire and conducted a search wearing breathing apparatus to confirm no further occupants were trapped.

Ambulance Victoria attended for a 75-year-old man who sustained burns to his back. Paramedics treated the male at the scene before transporting him to hospital.

The scene was handed over to Victoria Police for further investigation.
