Triple-zero received many reports of smoke billowing from the roof space of the large entertainment and dining complex were received and additional firefighting response was despatched.

On arrival MFB firefighters found flames spreading and emitting through the duct work.  Large amounts of smoke were filling the centre.  The main area of concern was in the location of the Airstream Cafe and the TAB which has sustained considerable fire, smoke and water damage.

Commander Brian Rogasch has praised the efforts of attending firefighters for being able to quickly suppress a large fire that was extremely difficult to access in the ducting.  The complex contains various restaurants, entertainment businesses and a large theatre complex which all have some smoke logging.

The fire took 50 minutes to bring under control.

The cause of the fire has been investigated by specialist MFB Fire Investigators and deemed to be of an electrical nature within the exhaust extraction system.
