Factory Blaze in Collingwood

The Metropolitan Fire Brigade has brought a large factory fire under control, near the corner of Wellington and Langridge Streets, Collingwood.

The fire raged from shortly after midday until approximately 2.00pm today, when 50 firefighters and 15 appliances attended the scene along with Police and Ambulance services.

The building suffered severe damage; the dollar value is unknown at this stage. Firefighters prevented the fire from spreading to any of the adjoining buildings.

The call was received at 12.21pm and the factory, which measures 120x50m in size and contained flammable liquids, was fully engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived on scene. None of the occupants of the building were injured.

Traffic delays are expected during peak hour and motorists are advised to avoid the area.
