Factory Fire in Preston

back to list
09 Jan 2011
MFB crews from Preston and Heidelberg were quickly on scene to reports of smoke coming from the brick and steel factory.

DATE: 08/01/11
TIME: 03:48
CALL No.: 2331

ADDRESS: Carpet Factory – Cope St Preston

Due to the construction and intensity of the fire no internal fire attack was possible earlier in the fire, but crews were able to apply water and foam to three sides and the roof area. Given the products involved crews wore wearing breathing apparatus, all protective clothing will be sent for specialist cleaning.

It took some 100 mins to deem it under control, and then an internal fire attack could take place. No cause is yet available nor any monetary estimate of damage. Crews were in attendance for many hours.
