back to list
29 Dec 2010
MFB crews from Sunshine and Keilor were alerted to a fire when a neighbour reported smoke in the area and banging noises.

TIME: 04:28
CALL No.: 10442

Timber Moulding Factory Fire - Maida Avenue, Sunshine North

On arrival at the factory, it was quickly realised that additional crews and trucks would be required.

The factory was a metal clad, single storey dwelling, approximately 40m x 10m in size, which was found to be totally involved in fire when access was obtained. There were concerns the fire might spread to adjacent buildings and crews worked to protect those premises.

When the roof collapsed, the fire‘s intensity increased. It took over one hour to bring the fire under control, and it will take many more hours to ensure the fire is completely extinguished. MFB's Fire Investigation Unit will attend later today to determine the cause.
