Fawkner House Fire

back to list
06 Oct 2010
A seventies cream brick veneer house has sustained damage after a fire earlier tonight.

The house was undergoing renovations and consequently was vacant at the time of the blaze and no injuries were recorded. When MFB firefighters arrived on scene, the fire was well into the roof space and flames were issuing from the windows of the single storey house. Whilst fighting the fire, firefighters became aware of the presence of asbestos in the building, so, specialist procedures were enacted to combat the hazardous nature of the product. A cause has not yet been established and investigations will continue at first light. A watching duty will remain in place for the rest of the night.
