Fire Investigators detect danger

back to list
24 Jun 2016
Some good old fashioned detective work by MFB Fire Investigators has uncovered a potential household danger.

Fire Investigators probing the cause of an unexplained fire which ripped through a Doncaster house on 26 April have identified a worklight as the cause of the blaze.

It’s believed the portable handlight was purchased by the owner the day before.

Subsequent testing of the product revealed parts inside were overheating, posing an unacceptable fire risk.

Working with its partner agencies, MFB successfully had the product, an Arlec rechargeable handheld worklight model WLED15, recalled.

MFB urges anyone who has purchased one of these worklights to immediately stop using it and return it to your nearest Bunnings store.
