13 Jun 2019
Firefighters have quickly contained a fire which began in the bedroom of a home in Ardeer at around 5pm this afternoon.

Approximately 30 firefighters were responded to the Suspension Street property and arrived on scene within minutes.

Thankfully the occupants had safely evacuated the premises.

Wearing breathing apparatus for protection against the smoke, the crews began to attack the fire from inside the building in a bid to bring it under control.

Crews then investigated the roof space and wall cavities using a thermal imaging camera to ensure the fire had not spread and worked to ventilate the home.

At the height of the incident there were seven firefighting appliances on scene, including one aerial appliance, in addition to two other units.

At this stage it is not clear what caused the fire to start, however this will be investigated once the fire is fully extinguished.
