17 Jul 2015
Fire crews battled a fire at the CSR plant in Yarraville overnight.

Firefighters were called to the Whitehall Street building at 11.35pm.

Fire broke out in the fourth level of the Old Dryer building at the CSR plant and quickly burnt through the floorboards to the third level.

The five storey building is under refurbishment and the cause of the fire is thought to be from oxy/acetylene equipment being used in the refurbishment.

Security from the premises alerted the fire brigade to the fire.

On arrival crews quickly brought the fire under control, in approximately 30 minutes, with an aggressive internal attack.

The fire has now been totally extinguished and will be handed over to the site manager.
