13 Dec 2015
MFB firefighters have attended a fire at a Cheltenham factory.

Crews were called to the furniture factory outlet on Grange Road just after 12.30pm.

Witnesses reported seeing thick black smoke issuing from the roof of the factory.

Firefighters entered the building in breathing apparatus to extinguish the blaze.

While the cause is yet to be determined, the fire is believed to have started in a foam booth inside the factory.

The fire was deemed under control at 1.11pm. A dozen fire trucks and more than 30 firefighters attended the incident.

Due to the age of the building, firefighters enacted asbestos procedures as a precaution.

The fire will be investigated by MFB Fire Investigators and Victoria Police.
