Fire at Church Street chemist

15 Dec 2014
Firefighters rushed to Brighton's busy shopping strip after a fire at a Church Street chemist on Saturday night.

Crews were called to the store at 7.21pm after patrons from a restaurant across the road saw arcing of the power service line attachment at the façade of the shop.

As smoke began to issue from the facade they immediately called the MFB.

Due to the number of callers, amount of smoke and the density of the shops in the street, the response was quickly upgraded from two appliances to six.

Quick work from firefighters contained the fire to the shop of origin and most of the damage was to the façade and the roof space at the front of the shop.
