Address: Hawthorn Road, North Caulfield

MFB Firefighters arrived on scene to find the two storey Middle Eastern style restaurant fully involved in fire.

The fire was threatening exposures either side and MFB firefighters strategically attacked the fire. Forced entry was made to the adjoining Sterling & Sheink Lawyers, who share the roof space of the restaurant, and fire crews, wearing breathing apparatus, were successful in stopping the fire spread.

The fire took 1 hour to bring under control, however, firefighting operations still continue. This is now being hindered by the structural integrity concerns in the centre of the building.

The fire has been deemed of a suspicious nature and police have been informed.

Attending Appliances: 8
Number of firefighters: 30

Officer in charge: Commander Barry Gray
