12 Aug 2011
MFB firefighters arrived at the two storey newly renovated brick pub and restaurant to find smoke and flame coming from the basement area.

Date: August 12, 2011
Time: 04:00 hours
Call Number: 3231

Address: Little Collins Street, Melbourne

Fire crews had initial difficulty accessing the fire due to the heavy security doors and spiked fencing.

Wearing breathing apparatus, firefighters aggressively attacked the fire successfully containing it in 35 minutes and stopping the spread to the upper levels of the building.

The basement area contains an office and storage area which has been extensively damaged by fire.  The remainder of the building has been heavily affected by heat and smoke.

MFB firefighters remained on scene for sometime to ventilate the building.

MFB Fire Investigators will attend this morning to determine the cause of the fire which, at this stage, appears to be of an electrical nature.

Attending Appliances: 8
Number of firefighters: 28

Officer in charge: Commander Peter Egan
