27 Jun 2017
MFB firefighters have extinguished a fire at a cabinet making factory in Thomastown this morning.

Crews were called to the scene in Holt Parade just before 10am, following a number of calls to Triple Zero (000).

Additional appliances responded after callers reported explosions and fire.

On arrival crews were able to contain the fire to an external hopper containing six cubic metres of sawdust.

The quick work of firefighters meant the fire didn’t spread into the factory.

First crews were on scene in five minutes and the fire was declared under control in 10 minutes.

Fire investigators will attend to determine the cause once the area is declared safe.

Ambulance Victoria and Police are assisting the MFB at the scene.
